Homeopathic Certificate Course

The Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine is excited to offer new diversified programmes. We welcome your interest in pursuing an education in homeopathic medicine.

Exploring the Art & Science of Homeopathy is an intensive study of the fundamentals of Homeopathy. The course has 2 progressive levels: it starts with the introductory session to learn about Homeopathy then complete the full programme to prepare for professional study in homeopathic medicine.  This course can be completed in one of two ways:

  • IN-CLASS STUDY: Students attend classes 2 weekends per month for a total of 16 eight-hour sessions. Classes begin every September and January.
  • ONLINE EDUCATION: Designed for those who do not live in the Toronto area or for those who would like to complete the course on their own schedule.  Students registered in the Online Education programme will be provided a personal tutor who will guide them  through the course.

 

 

 

Upon successful completion of the course, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

Curriculum

 

Level I: Introduction (5 modules)

  • History of Homeopathy, Scientific Basis, Current Theories, Comparison of Paradigms
  • Fundamentals & Principles
  • Symptomatology, Posology, Remedy Preparation
  • Provings & Materia Medica - Introduction
  • Knowledge of Medicine

Level II: Art & Science of Homeopathy (10 modules)

  • Organon of the Medical Art
  • Repertories, their Structure and Organization
  • Case Taking According to Organon
  • Acute versus Chronic Disease in Homeopathy
  • Hahnemann’s Theory of Miasms
  • Acute Conditions: First Aid, Colds & Flu Treatment (2 modules)
  • Materia Medica: 12 Widely Used Remedies (3 modules)

Students will gain an understanding and knowledge of the history, origins, philosophy and fundamental laws of the Homeopathic system of medicine.  This knowledge will be applied to discussions on the scientific basis of homeopathy, its current issues and challenges.  It is important to understand the principles of practice and case taking as these will be the cornerstone of a successful prescription. 

Students who choose to continue with Homeopathic study in the Professional Diploma Programme must write and pass a final exam (60% passing grade required).  The Certificate Course hours will be fully credited toward the full-time programme.
